GFI Receptacles
When you lose power to an outlet in the kitchen, bathroom, garage, or outdoor area, check to see if there is a GFI outlet. In the case of GFI, you can restore the power by pressing the “TEST” button and then the “RESET” button. If GFI powers off repeatedly, plug in a different device to test whether the problem is the first device or GFI itself. If the GFI is defective, it is time to call an electrician.
Circuit Breaker Tripping Off
You should do this when you suspect a power failure may be due to a trip of a circuit breaker.
1. Turn off any electronic equipment that may be affected by the outage.
2. Go to the circuit breaker panel and if you are able to identify the affected breaker, firmly shut off the circuit breaker, then turn it on again.
3. If you cannot identify the breaker, start at the top, turn the first breaker off, then firmly back on again. Do the same for each breaker until complete all of them.
4. Check whether the device without power is back on again.
5. If the power has been restored, You’re done, congratulations! If your power is still out, it’s time to call your electrician.
